During the Creative Writing Residency, students have the opportunity to develop important life skills while working with professional writers and storytellers in the classroom. They can also enjoy the satisfaction of sharing their completed projects with their classmates, community, and peers around the globe.

Students’ written work is typically performed for their classmates at the end of the residency and is also posted on the Make a Connection Thru Art website, either in written form or as an audio recording in which the students read their own compositions.

As part of a culminating event, students’ written work and visual art will be shared with young people and adults from across their community; if they choose, students may use this event as a showcase for live performance of their poems, stories, and narratives.
